Prediction of Bay-Shaped Shorelines between Detached Breakwaters with Various Gap Spacings

چکیده
Detached breakwaters are widely used for shore protection. The planforms of tombolos or salients behind structures have also been to provide a recreational and sustainable coastal environment. In this study, the comprehensive XBeach model was numerically simulate evolution wave transformation, nearshore current, morphological changes in tombolo detached breakwaters. Given various gap spacings between consecutive breakwaters, numerical results indicated that both equilibrium bay-shaped shorelines bottom profiles form lee after long-term persistent action. These were verified using well-known empirical formulas. Post-wave-action retreat displacement initial shoreline analyzed, an relationship proposed predicting shoreline. By associating formula with parabolic bay-shape equation, some actual beaches evaluated validate predictions conclusion, appropriately plan layouts can be predicted at design stage by relationship.

Fully Autonomous Observation of Breakwaters by an Auv at Kamaishi Bay
This paper proposes a robust navigation method for Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs) operating around structures such as harbors and breakwaters. This method consists of a state estimator and a motion controller, enabling localization in the configuration map as well as following pre-given waypoints without any external help. The state estimator is based on a “particle filter” where the veh...
متن کاملThe Distribution of Spacings between Quadratic Residues
We study the distribution of spacings between squares modulo q, where q is square-free and highly composite, in the limit as the number of prime factors of q goes to infinity. We show that all correlation functions are Poissonian, which among other things, implies that the spacings between nearest neighbors, normalized to have unit mean, have an exponential distribution. متن کاملEcological value of submerged breakwaters for habitat enhancement on a residential scale.
Estuarine shorelines have been degraded since humans arrived in the coastal zone. In recent history, a major cause of habitat degradation has been the armoring of shorelines with vertical walls to protect property from erosive wave energy; however, a lack of practical alternatives that maintain or enhance ecological function has limited the options of waterfront residents and coastal zone manag...
متن کاملOn the spacings between C-nomial coefficients
Let (Cn)n≥0 be the Lucas sequence Cn+2 = aCn+1 +bCn for all n ≥ 0, where C0 = 0 and C1 = 1. For 1 ≤ k ≤ m− 1 let [ m k ] C = CmCm−1 · · ·Cm−k+1 C1 · · ·Ck be the corresponding C-nomial coefficient. When Cn = Fn is the Fibonacci sequence (the numbers [ m k ] F are called Fibonomials), or Cn = (qn − 1)/(q − 1), where q > 1 is an integer (the numbers [ m k ] q are called q-binomial, or Gaussian co...
